About This Metric

Definition
Groups of stocks classified by theme rather than by industry.
  • Theme index: members equal-weighted, dividends included (adjusted prices), rebalanced on the first trading day of each month and whenever a new list takes effect.
  • Institutional net buying is the sum across member stocks.
  • Lists are compiled monthly. A company needs at least two public sources showing it has products or revenue in the theme, and each entry carries a one-line reason and source; advisory stock picks and “concept stock list” articles are not used. Older lists are kept, not overwritten.
  • The stretch before the 2026-10 list took effect is backcast with the 2026-10 list and drawn as a grey dashed line.

Caveat
Backtesting the past with today's list overstates results; use each month's list for that month.
