About This Metric
Definition
The cash and stock dividends this stock has paid over the years.
How to Read
To receive this cash dividend, buy no later than the trading day before the ex-dividend date.
- Cash yield = cash dividend ÷ share price. “Current yield” is the total cash dividend that went ex-dividend in the past 365 days divided by the latest close; it counts cash dividends only and is not shown if none were paid in the past 365 days. The yearly column divides each year's total cash dividend by that year's average daily close.
- Ex-dividend applies to cash dividends: the price drops by the dividend. Ex-rights applies to stock dividends: share count rises and the price is cut proportionally. When both fall on the same day it is called ex-rights-and-dividend.
- On the ex-dividend date the opening reference price is reduced by the dividend. When the price returns to its pre-dividend level it is “filling the gap”; the days to fill are the trading days from the ex-dividend date until it recovers.
- The payment date is usually a few weeks after the ex-dividend date; selling after the ex-dividend date doesn't forfeit it.

Caveat
